Redcar

This popular town and resort on the coast is home to the oldest lifeboat in the world, on display at the RNLI Zetland Lifeboat Museum. It was built in 1802 by H Greathead and stands among exhibitions on fishing history, models, photographs, paintings and cards in a handsome listed building in King Street. Tel: 01642 494311.

Redcar’s Lifeboat Station can be visited on Sunday mornings, or by appointment. Tel: 01642 484491.
