Pittington

A small village, Pittington contains one of County Durham’s hidden gems - the Saxon-Norman St Laurence’s Church at Hallgarth. The present church dates from the 11th century, on the site of what is believed to be an even earlier Saxon church. The 12th century paintings of St Cuthbert are well worth seeing.
