Threave GardensThreave Gardens and Estate (National Trust for Scotland ) surround a house built in 1872 by William Gordon, a Liverpool businessman. In 1948 the estate was given to the National Trust for Scotland by William’s grandson. The gardens were created from scratch, and now house the Trust’s School of Practical Gardening. The house itself is open to the public, with its interiors restored to how they would have looked in the 1930s when the place was owned by the Gordon family. The Maxwell Collection of local bygones is on display within the visitor centre. |
