BeeswingThis small village was laid out in the 19th century. The only remarkable thing about it is its name. It must be the only village in Scotland that is named after a horse. Beeswing was one of the most famous horses in the mid-1800s. Its finest performance was in the Doncaster Cup which it won in 1840. A local man won so much money on the race that he opened an inn called The Beeswing, and the village grew up round it. |
