Lydlinch

The small hamlet of Lydlinch in the Blackmore Vale features in a poem by the Dorset dialect poet, William Barnes. He recalls as a young boy hearing the sound of Lydlinch church bells wafting across meadows to his home in nearby Bagber:

Vor Lydlinch bells be good vor sound,
And liked by all the neighbours round.

The five bells he heard still hang in the tower of the 13th century church.
