SticklepathThe little village of Sticklepath boasts one of the most interesting exhibits of industrial archaeology in Devon. From 1814 to 1960, Finch Foundry (National Trust) was renowned for producing the finest sharp-edged tools in the West Country. The three massive waterwheels are regularly set working again driving the ancient machinery. The pounding rhythms of the steam hammer and rushing water vividly evoke that age of noisy toil. |
