ShaldonSet on the southern bank of the Teign estuary, Shaldon’s Marine Parade provides a grand viewpoint for watching the busy traffic sailing in and out of the river. A goodly number of Regency houses add architectural dignity to the town, a reminder of the era when affluent Londoners, unable to holiday in a Europe dominated by Napoleon, began to discover the gentle charms of southwestern England. A more recent attraction for visitors is the Shaldon Wildlife Trust’s breeding centre for rare small mammals, reptiles and exotic birds, just to the north of the town. |
