Newton Ferrers

A picturesque fishing village of whitewashed cottages sloping down to the river, Newton Ferrers is beloved by artists and is also one of the south coast’s most popular yachting centres. Part of the village sits beside the River Yealm (pronounced Yam), the rest alongside a large creek. When the creek dries out at low tide, it is possible to walk across to Noss Mayo on the southern bank. (When the tide is in, a ferry operates, but only during the season.)
