MarwoodThis ancient village is home to Marwood Hill Gardens which offers visitors some 18 acres of trees and shrubs, many of them rare and unusual. The collection was started more than half a century ago and now includes an enormous number and variety of plants. The gardens are home to the national collections of astilbe, iris and tulbaghia where 18 acres of pastureland have been transformed into a spectacular water garden with three lakes that are surrounded by herbaceous plants, trees and shrubs. Home to the National Collections of Astilbe, Iris and Tulbaghia, the gardens also feature the Folly and the Scented Arbour as well as the largest Bog Garden in the West Country that links the lakes. Throughout the year there is plenty of interest – from the spring magnolias to the brilliant autumnal colours. The gardens are open daily from dawn to dusk and there are plants for sale, including rare and unusual species. |
