LympstoneSet beside the estuary of the River Exe, Lympstone looks across the water to the impressive outline of Powderham Castle. There’s a tiny harbour with a slipway and, on the beach, an Italianate clock tower erected in 1885 by a Mr WH Peters in commemoration of his wife, Mary Jane, who was noted for her good works amongst the poor of the village. It’s a delight to wander around the old part of Lympstone with its narrow streets, small courts and ancient cottages. |
