BroadwoodwidgerJust to the northeast of this village lies Roadford Lake, a reservoir that was completed in 1990 and that has, among its many visitor attractions, a Victorian steam launch, the SL Elegance, which takes passengers on a trip around the lake between April and October. There is a network of footpaths around most of the lake, although the northern area has been designated a Special Protection Zone to allow wildlife a safe haven.Formerly known as Dingles Steam Village, this attraction now operates as Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre. A facility unique in the UK, the centre is home to the National Fairground Collection and features some superb displays of fairground art, vintage rides, stalls, shows and memorabilia. |
