WaterfallThe tiny village of Waterfall is on the Staffordshire moors. It gets its name from the way that the River Hamps disappears underground through crevices in the ground. In the case of the Hamps, it disappears at Waterhouses and reappears again near Ilam before merging with the River Manifold. The Parish Church of St James and St Bartholomew is originally Norman but was largely rebuilt in the 19th century. However, the Norman chancel has been retained. |
