PomeroyPomeroy is a charming hamlet with lovely buildings, some dating back to medieval times. The alehouse, the Duke of York, was first opened in 1618 as part of the farmstead owned by John and Maria White. The chestnut tree in the car park was planted in the 1900s by the then Prince of Wales, later King Edward VIII, on an occasion when he was visiting the area with Sir Thomas Pomeroy. |
