MoiraMoira is actually just over the border in Leicestershire, and close by is the award winning attraction called Conkers, at the heart of the National Forest. It is a mix of indoor and outdoor experiences where you can watch the effect the four seasons have on a forest. There are over 1,000 interactive exhibits.Another legacy of the area’s industrial heritage is the Moira Furnace, a restored 19th-century blast furnace. Today it is a museum with interactive displays and information on how the furnace worked, and its influence on the local economy and the lives of the workers. There is also a restored section of Ashby Canal near the site so you may wish to enjoy a boat trip. The furnace adjoins a 50acre newly-planted Woodland Park. The furnace site also includes craft workshops and a small nature reserve. |
