DonisthorpeDonisthorpe is a famous old mining village right on the Derbyshire-Leicestershire border. The River Mease, which marks the border, runs right through it. Its inhabitants are justly proud of the village’s industrial and historical heritage. The old colliery, the pit railway and the old British Rail line had all closed down by the 1960s. Left behind is a proud history and a tranquillity unknown in the days of the mines. |
