Castle GresleyJust like Church Gresley, Castle Gresley, unsurprisingly, is also named after the Derbyshire family of Gresley, which has owned land in the area since before the Domesday Book. But where is the castle? Unfortunately, nothing is left of the castle built by William de Gresley in the mid-14th century - apart from the grassy mound, or motte, on which it stood, still known as Castle Knob. |
