Praa SandsAt first glance, Praa Sands would seem to be a collection of 20th century buildings close to the sea, however there is more to the village. Pengersick Castle dates back to the Bronze Age and is to be found a quarter of a mile from the modern centre of the village. Now owned by the Pengersick Historic and Education Trust, the castle is undergoing a major programme of renovation and is expected to open again to the public in 2012.Two headlands and high dunes enclose the mile-long crescent of sand that have helped to build Praa Sands’ reputation as one of the finest family beaches in Cornwall. An ideal place for bathing and surfing, the beach here never gets too crowded and the village provides a variety of accommodation that is suitable for a small family resort. |
