ParThe harbour was built here in the 1840s as part of the expansion of the china clay industry and, today, the terminals, erected in the 1960s, still handle the clay. The tall and slender chimneys of the clay processing plants can be seen from Par Sands, a large, sheltered sandy beach bordered by sand dunes ideal for exploring wildlife. This is the perfect setting for a lazy day. Contrastingly, to the east of the beach lies a low rocky cliff where, at low tide, Little Hell Cove can be reached. |
