Flushing

Another popular yachting centre, this small village was built by settlers from Vlissingen in Holland in the 17th century and still retains a Dutch appearance. A prosperous port in the 17th and 18th centuries, Flushing’s narrow streets are home to some fine Queen Anne houses, many of which were built to house sea captains and naval officers.
