Eastham

Eastham Woods Country Park (also now in Merseyside) is a 76-acre oasis of countryside amidst industrial Merseyside and enjoys considerable status amongst bird-watchers as one of few northern woodlands with all three species of native woodpecker in residence. Just a mile or so from the Park is Eastham village, another little oasis with a church and old houses grouped around the village green. The venerable yew tree in the churchyard is reputed to be the oldest in England.
