Parson Drove
Samuel Pepys visited Parson Drove in 1663. He stayed at the village's Swan Inn,
and mentions it in his diaries, though he was not complimentary. Parson Drove is
most certainly not the 'heathen place' once described by Pepys!
The Parson Drove Visitors' Centre is set in the old Victorian lock-up on the village green, a building with an unusual 170-year history. Photographs and documents trace the story of this lovely Fens village. The Church of St John the Baptist has many treasures, including delightful carved medieval faces and large clear windows with medieval glass in the tracery. |
