Smailholm

Smailholm Tower (Historic Scotland) seems to grow out of a low, rocky outcrop, and is a four square 60 feet high tower which was once surrounded by a wall. Within it you can see a collection of costumed figures and tapestries connected with Scott’s Minstrelsy of the Scottish Borders. Scott, as a child, spent a lot of time with his grandparents at the nearby farm of Sandyknowe and knew the tower well.
