Denholm

This pleasant small village was the birthplace of both John Leyden, poet, doctor, linguist and friend of Sir Walter Scott, and of Sir James Murray, editor of the Oxford English Dictionary. Leyden is commemorated by an obelisk on the green; Murray’s monument is his ground-breaking dictionary of which millions of copies have been published.
