HalkynThe village lies close to the long ridge of the Halkyn Mountains, which rise to some 964 feet at their highest point and are scarred by the remnants of ancient lead mines and quarries, some of, which date back to Roman times. In the 17th century, Derbyshire lead miners were brought here to work in the newly opened mines. |
