Winterbourne

Just south of the village lies Snelsmore Common Country Park, a heathland site surrounded by woodland. The common comprises several different habitats, including woodland, heathland and bog, and it supports a correspondingly wide variety of plant and animal life. It is a particularly important area for ground-nesting birds such as the nightjar and woodlark. The site has many footpaths and tracks and an area set aside for picnics.
