The Yorkshire Waterways Museum celebrates the social and economic history of the canal port of Goole and its associated compartment boats and hoists, and present day links with the Humber, Europe and the Yorkshire river and canal network. More than 7000 documents, photographs and artefacts comprise a ollection and archive whose largest object is the working Tom Pudding tug Wheldale. The museum plans to improve the heritage value of the existing collection by conserving and interpreting large objects which have not yet been part of the current public displays. |
