Nostell Priory takes its name from the 12th century Augustinian Priory dedicated to Saint Oswald. Now in its place is the 18th century house built by James Paine and Robert Adam for Sir Rowland Winn in 1733. The house has been the home of the Winn family for the last 350 years. The house is home to over 100 pieces of Thomas Chippendale furniture, but other treasures include works by Pieter Brueghel the Younger and Angelica Kauffman. The house is surrounded by nearly 350 acres of parkland. Enjoy a lakeside walk with stunning wild flower collections throughout the year or visit the rose garden beautifully set behind the stableblock. Whatever the season, the 19th century parkland is open to all; come and see parkland restoration as it happens. Wander around and enjoy sumptuous views of the magnificent mature trees, lush restored wildflower meadows and the peacefully grazing cattle. Wildlife, ranging from oxeye daisies to kestrels, are to be found at every turn throughout the estate.

The garden comes alive from March onwards, with radiant carpets of glorious spring flowers. Winding round the two lakes are a series of spectacular tree lined rhododendron walks, passing through the 18th Century Menagerie Gardens and pleasure grounds. The scented delights of the Rose Garden are a feast for the senses, and the inspiring midsummer magnificence of the white climbing iceberg rose, covering over 130 metres of wall is a sight to behold.
