The popular seaside town of Filey in North Yorkshire is home to Victoria Court Bar and Restaurant, found in a lofty location overlooking the gardens and the shore. It holds an unbeaten reputation for outstanding dining for both lunch and dinner. Its owners Richard and Jill Bell have been running Victoria for over 28 years and have turned it into quite the destination restaurant. Both locals and guests from further afield flock to dine here with its beautiful decor and even more stunning food.Open all year round, but closed on Tuesdays, guests can visit Victoria Court throughout the day, with food available between 12-2pm and 6-9pm. The restaurant and bar area seats up to 35 guests with seating for another 35 in a private function room. The bar area, elegant and full of atmosphere, is always fully stocked and staffed by charming and helpful aides. Diners can choose from a range of drinks or wines.Richard has been a professional chef for a phenomenal 47 years, leaving his knowledge about food and flavour second to none. Over the years he has carefully cultivated a selection of menus to suit every appetite, palette and budget. Owing to its seaside location, Richard's menus are unsurprisingly laden with countless sumptuous seafood dishes, however all dishes are cooked fresh to order using the very best in local Yorkshire produce. The a la carte menu which operates in the evenings offers up starters such as homemade chicken liver pate, Norwegian prawn cocktails, hot chicken chunky salad topped with Granny Bell's own recipe dressing, and plaice filled with fresh salmon mayonnaise in a light batter. The main courses also feature much plaice, with breaded, deep fried, grilled and goujons varieties. Haddock and scampi also feature on the menu along with a vegetarian nut roast, several varieties of chicken, pork and specialty pies. Guests can also opt for something from the grill, with plenty of handsome cuts of Yorkshire meat on offer. Desserts include local ice cream, sherry trifle, apple or banana fritters and meringue glace. For those desiring a lighter lunch, there are also plenty of options, including homemade soup, supreme Scottish scampi with a salad garnish, and the popular 'mushroom moments' which features lightly battered mushrooms filled with pate and served with hot stilton sauce. A simple, but delicious selection of omelettes, sandwiches and hot baguettes are also available. Children are welcome to dine from the main menu with half portions.
