Situated on the outskirts of the village of Abercynon, found just off the main A470 is the Carne Park Hotel. Known locally for having the longest bar in Wales, it is a popular venue to dine or drink throughout the year. Its hosts Derrick and Karen took over 3 years ago and have put the place back on the map, creating a fabulous restaurant and bringing in two rotating ales for guests enjoyment. The restaurant serves food from 4-9pm Wed/Thurs, 2-9pm Fri/Sat and from 12-3pm on Sundays for a hearty Sunday lunch. The menu comprises great dishes such as Spanish chicken, rack of lamb, beef stroganoff, special surf and turf (medallions of steak with sautéed tiger prawns), and a good selection of vegetarian dishes which include lentil and mushroom hotpot and the chefs special herb pancake. A lighter menu is available for bar snacks and a sumptuous Christmas menu is available throughout the festive period. Owing to popularity it's best to book for the Sunday lunch. Children are welcome and can dine from their own menu or take half portions from the main menu.Entertainment is the big crowd drawer here with something 5 nights of the week to include Monday night Quiz, Bingo on Tuesday, Wednesday Poker night, Karaoke Fridays and live entertainment on Saturdays. |
