Dating back to the 17th century, The Horseshoe Inn is nestled in an idyllic rural location. The pub and restaurant, between Abergavenny and Pontypool, has been owned by Phil Thomas for more than four years. The quality of the food is extremely high and local produce is a strong focus of the extensive and varied menu. The main menu is changed monthly and the dishes are well presented and served to diners efficiently. There is also a daily specials board to tempt the taste buds. Among the favourite dishes are slow roasted belly pork with black pudding, white onion pureé, pork and cider sauce; and braised shoulder of Welsh lamb with creamed cabbage & bacon, confit carrot, fondant potato and rosemary jus.The Horseshoe Inn serves quality real ales, on hand pump or direct from the barrel; organic ciders and an interesting, progressive list of wines, many by the glass. The new event suite at the inn caters for up to 90 guests and offers spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. Food is served daily between 12pm-3pm and 6.30pm-9.30pm and it is advisable to book ahead. Credit cards, except American Express and Diners taken. Disabled access is not a problem. |
