In a unique and purpose - built museum are gathered together the treasured inheritance and cultural icons which tell Scotland's many stories. The people, the land, the events that have shaped the way they live now.If you weren't aware of the extraordinary history and impressive achievements of this small country, then it's time to find out. Because after more than 3,000 million years of Scotland's story, there is the perfect place in which to celebrate it - the Museum of Scotland. The exhibits include the earliest known fossil reptile found in Bathgate, dating back to 338 million years BC, artefacts from around 8,000 BC when the first settlers arrived and a tiny shrine thought to date from AD 750.The museum shop sells a wide variety of souvenirs and a café and restaurant ensure that all appetities are catered for. Guides are available and there is a rooftop garden with spectacular views. Open Monday to Saturday 10am-5pm and Sunday 12 noon-5pm. Disabled access. |
