A guided tour of Galloway Hydros will give you an insight into the force of nature that is captured, channelled and released back into the environment, enabling Scottish Power to produce pure, clean energy. The Visitor Centre tells the story of the construction of the Galloway Hydros in the 1930s and the tour takes you into the power station, the control room and the turbine hall. You will learn about the operation of the power stations and how they contribute to the national electricity grid system. Close by is the impressive Tongland Dam and Reservoir - the power source. Here, you might catch a glimpse of a migrating salmon. A picnic area and refreshments room allow you to relax and enjoy the tranquility.
