Producing high quality products ranging from dairy and non-dairy ice cream, fresh fruit sorbets and Italian high quality frozen desserts, M B Mancini & Co has been at The Royal Café, Ayr since 1925 with the company being 96 years old. The highly recommended company can produce more than 200 different flavours of ice cream and operates Ayr's only Italian style café. Owner, Philip Mancini, is the UK's Champion of Champions in ice cream making and his family has been making ice cream in the town since 1913. Having been voted, Scottish Ice Cream Champions and winning many awards, such as Champion of Champions Vanilla, Champion of Champions, Flavour Class, Chocolate and Mango Sorbet Class at the National Ice Cream Championships 2009/2010, the Mancini's are well known for their ability to produce high quality ice cream and people travel from all over to sample the delights on offer. Mancini's are also highly recommended in Scotland, the best guide 2010 by Peter Irvine.

From the outside the stone building has a traditional shop front and is located close to the town's amenities. Inside, it is tastefully decorated and can seat 40 people, many who return time and time again to enjoy the offerings of the traditional fish and chip shop and ice cream parlour. cakes are made to order and there are hot and cold snacks and meals available as well as teas and coffee. The café is open from 9am-10pm seven days a week and also operates a take away service. Twenty flavours of ice cream are available for take-away or take-home packs to the retail trade.

The cafe trades under the name of `The Royal Café' and is currently undergoing refurbishment, with the fourth generation of Mancinis already taking an active part. The company is being run today by Anna and Philip Mancini. Philip has 30 years experience in ice cream manufacturing and spent eight years on the national executive committee of the Ice Cream Alliance Ltd and had the great honour of being national president of the association in the year of 1993/94. He is in charge of all production of Mancini's Ice Cream on a daily basis which is now being wholesaled through the West of Scotland by the company's own refrigerated vehicle. For a small company, Mancini's has a big name for ice cream in Scotland and has won many national awards. In the thirties to the fifties Mancini made ice cream for many outlets in Ayr and serviced the Ayr Promenade with their high quality ice cream. The company is almost 90 years old and is still under the Mancini family and four generations later is still producing high quality products with Philip's son Mark now in charge of production . Mancini's also operate a little cafe on Prestwick Promenade, 1mile from Glasgow Prestwick Airport.
