Truly hidden away, the tiny village of Dalavich is reached by an unlisted single track road that skirts the western shore of Loch Awe. Set beside the loch, Dalavich Shop & Wild Rowan Café is at the very heart of this small community. As well as running the shop and café, owners Hayati and Grace Gok also run the Post Office and bicycle hire facility.Open every day, the café offers a hearty all day breakfast as well as an extensive choice of main meals, light snacks, hot and cold rolls, toasties and sandwiches. Ingredients such as the fresh haddock are locally sourced wherever possible. There's also a home-made soup of the day and a choice of Kiddies Lunches. The extensive range of hot drinks includes aromatic coffees made using top quality Lavazza Italian espresso beans. Most of the items are available to take away.Dalavich itself is wonderfully peaceful and noted for its interesting wildlife, which includes wild osprey, red squirrels and even the rare and elusive pine marten. |
