Located right next door to Inveraray Jail, one of Scotland's top tourist attractions, Bank House Guest House is a striking building which was built in 1745 for the brother of the 3rd Duke of Argyll - the man who designed and funded the creation of this, the first planned town in Europe. Your host at Bank House is Norina Coupar, a friendly and welcoming lady with some 30 years experience in the hotel business. There are 3 guest bedrooms available, all with en suite facilities and all individually furnished and decorated.Norina is a keen gardener and her walled garden has been designed to provide year-round colour to complement the mature trees. During the summer months, there are more flowers in hanging baskets and in planters at the front of the house.Inveraray itself is a pleasant place to explore. It sits on the shore of Loch Fyne, has an outstanding Maritime Museum which occupies a 3-masted schooner and, of course, there's the jail for which guests at Bank House receive a 10% discount on the entry price. |
