The Giggling Goose Café is a real hidden treasure and once it's found it's never forgotten. Set in the idyllic surroundings of the charming community of Ambleside it can be found either side of North Street or through the delightful pastoral gardens at its rear which lie adjacent to the Beck off Ambleside's main thoroughfare.Owners and creators of the Giggling Goose café Craig and Janine Hunter-Lowe have been open for 4 years now and have created a popular reputation within the local community and surrounding businesses for fine quality homemade food. The tremendous effort they put into delivering a hospitable and friendly service for good food has gone a long way as they are highly recommended by all in town.Home cooking is really what this place is about, with the entire range of delicious cakes, scones and breads are all made daily on the premises. Craig and Janine also pride themselves on making their own jams, chutney, salad dressings, vinaigrettes, soups, stews and clotted cream ensuring that every mouthful taken here is a satisfying one. There are 30 indoor seats in a fresh country tearoom setting, with 50 more seats outside in the tumbling garden full of vibrant flowers and shady trees making for a relaxing stop indeed. There is a range of breakfast available from 10-11am including the house speciality of granola and natural yoghurt drizzled with berry coulis and a fresh fruit salad, and a lunch menu runs from 11:30am-3:30pm that offers a range of tempting doorstep sandwiches, warm salads like the grilled goats cheese salad served on toasted chilli plum jam bread with mixed baby salad leaf, cucumber, onion and tomato with homemade vinaigrette and balsamic syrup and a rustic farmhouse brunch platter.
