The High Cross Inn is situated high on the hills surrounding the delightful village of Broughton-In-Furness, just off the A595. It offers spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding snow-capped mountains in winter months combined with a warm and friendly environment to enjoy them in.

Leaseholders Angela and Michael have only been at the High Cross Inn since May 2009 but already are receiving excellent reviews from all those that visit. Their reputable experience in the hotel, restaurant and catering business has clearly put them in good stead as they have created a really individual environment catering for both adults and children in an informal and friendly atmosphere that doesn't forfeit quality.

Parts of the Inn date back to its status as an 18th century farm house, which later became a favoured ale house. The Inn seats up to sixty people, but manages to feel cosy with traditional log fires and farmhouse furniture. Its large dining room opens up onto a large circular bay window filling the room with natural light. From here you can enjoy the scenic views of the valley below or if you prefer, from the terrace complete with picnic tables from which to lap up the summer sun.

Open all day every day, the High Cross Inn serves 4 real ales, 3 of which rotate from local breweries and the last being regular Ennerdale brew. A delicious variety of locally sourced, seasonal food is served daily from 12-9pm. You can choose from the main menu which features a gargantuan Mixed grill (Cumberland sausage, gammon and sirloin steaks with onion rings, grilled tomato and salad) or a delicately poached salmon dish with a white wine, lemon and chive sauce served with potatoes and vegetables. A specials board is also available offering seasonal dishes. Most dishes can be cooked to half portion as a children's menu. It is recommended to book on weekends as this delicious food ensures seats fill up fast.

Accommodation is also available all year round, with seven beautiful rooms to let, currently four are en suite, but by the end of 2009 all will be en suite. Angela and Michael also offer a scrumptious breakfast in their tariff, making the High Cross Inn the perfect place to take a break in the unbeatable beauty of Cumbria. They also put on live music every fortnight, with excellent disabled access for both the bar and restaurant. All major credit cards accepted.
