Ten real ales and great food served in a convivial atmosphere brings customers from near and far to The Anglers Arms, a traditional country pub which stands in the heart of Haverthwaite, 200 yards off the A590 and a short distance from Ulverston. New landlords Katrina, Graham and Sheena continue to ensure that the Anglers Arms is a thriving part of the community, extending a warm welcome to young and old (and their dogs!) all day every day.

All appetites are catered for with a wide range of light bites from rustic homemade soups to stilton and Guinness infused chicken liver pate served with salad and melba toast, or a choice of sumptuous main meals like the slow roasted lamb henry cooked with fresh rosemary, thyme and garlic in a red wine gravy, with a hearty roast also offered on Sundays. Food is served 12-2pm and 5:30-9pm weekdays and from 12-9pm on weekends. All major credit cards accepted except American Express. It is advised to book Fri/Sat/Sun though as Graham's invaluable experience as Head Chef of the Angler's Arms for over two years ensures a full house most nights. All dishes are cooked to order with local produce offering a variety of seasonal fish, game, pies and innovative vegetarian dishes such as the flavoursome mushroom stroganoff cooked in a red wine, garlic, paprika and French cream sauce - and that's not including the specials board which offers a range of exotic treats or simply a good old chicken balti curry! A children's menu is also available.

It's not just the food they take seriously here though, with up to 10 real ales rotating in the summer months and up to 30 real ales during their annual beer festival in August from a range of local and national breweries, which can be enjoyed in the sunshine from the large outdoor seating area, complete with patio heaters.

The charming rural community of Haverthwaite is also home to the restored Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway which sports steam-engine hauled services from just over the road. The Anglers Arms also offers live music on Saturday nights, providing a vibrant but cosy stop in the outstanding beauty of the surrounding Lake District National park.
