Delightfully situated in lush grounds of plenty is the spectacular Crosby Lodge Country House Hotel & Restaurant. With its grand exterior and splendid scenery, this property is designed to make you unwind, relax and recharge those batteries.

Only a short distance away from the River Eden, the building has a fine view of the Vale of Eden and distant mountains, providing a tranquil and relaxing atmosphere. Having been regarded as one of the region's most outstanding country house hotels, it is not hard to see why this hotel is so popular with all whom visit.

The building oozes history and charm and dates back to the first decade of the 19th century. Previously built as a stately home for the Deputy Lieutenant of Cumberland, the building, which is now Grade II listed, entices those with an interest in British history.

Acquired by the Sedgwick family in 1970, the hotel underwent a substantial, yet sympathetic refurbishment, keeping many of the original features, as well as providing the height in comfort, service and hospitality. Still in the family, Patricia Sedgwick is the owner of Crosby Lodge and she offers tremendous accommodation, which can be booked on a bed & breakfast or dinner, bed & breakfast basis throughout the year.

There are 11 beautifully appointed rooms, each of which are ensuite and individually designed and furnished with an impeccable style and taste, which is consistent throughout this building.

As well as the comfortable and luxurious bedrooms, there is an elegant restaurant on site, serving the very best in fine cuisine. The table d'hôte and à la carte menus make excellent use of fresh ingredients in classic British and Continental dishes ranging from Gressingham duck breast and seared pork loin with black pudding to haddock and chips, toad in the hole and award winning Cumberland sausage on bubble and squeak. There is also a delectable array of Crosby Lodge delicious desserts, including homemade ice creams and a choice of British cheeses, which are a pleasant accompaniment to any main meal.

The fine food is also complemented by an equally distinguished wine list, which is compiled by Philippa Sedgwick wines, who have a wine warehouse in the courtyard.
