This hotel has been renovated from a 17th century farmhouse, and has provided a meeting place for The Lake Poets, Charles Dickens and Wilkie Collins. It is easy to see how writers of such great words would wish to stay here; the solitude and breathtaking views are timelessly inspiring.Within the hotel you can stay in one of 11 light and spacious individually decorated and furnished rooms all with en-suites, the personal touches, such as whirlpool baths and finest organic teas, are sure to make you feel at home.In addition there are 3 cottages nestled in the woods, a 5-minute walk from the main hotel, if you wish to have complete calm away from the hustle and bustle. These are all open all year round, so whatever the weather you can come and enjoy all the Lancrigg Country House Hotel has to offer.Also on offer to further enhance your relaxation and wellbeing there are Health Creation Breaks, where you get a day membership at the award winning Langdale leisure centre, where you can get a Shiatsu massage, Swedish massage, Therapeutic healing, Reiki or Personalised nutritional consultation.It is impossible to talk about the hotel without mentioning the Green Valley certified Organic Vegetarian Restaurant. They cater for Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten-, wheat-, dairy- and sugar-free diets, example dishes are Cajun spiced aubergine, corn cakes & guacamole served with refried beans, tomato salsa & coriander mojo, and Tofu burger topped with pesto, char grilled vegetables & mayonnaise served with paprika wedges, tomato sauce & salad. With food this fresh colourful and tasty it is an unmissable treat for anyone. The aim of this restaurant is to serve delicious vegetarian organic food, to give you a feeling of well-being and rejuvenation which will complete your trip to the Lancrigg Country House. As the food is fresh and organic, there will sometimes be variations to the menu available, but the utmost will always be done not to compromise the integrity of the taste in these instances. Dinner is served between 6:30-8:30pm but the restaurant is open from 8:30am for breakfasts, morning coffee, light lunches and afternoon teas. There is an advantage to booking for non-residents. The restaurant is licensed, welcomes children and dogs, and accommodation includes dinner, bed and breakfast. |
