Situated in the heart of picturesque Pooley Bridge, on the banks of Lake Ullswater (and a convenient 5 minute car journey from Penrith station), the

Pooley Bridge Inn is a must-visit spot for locals and visitors alike. This family-run Inn has an ever-growing reputation for their excellent food and service, which can only be due to the work of the licensees Keith and Carolyn Wray, and their head chef Steve Angel all of whom ran a very successful public house before taking over the Pooley Bridge Inn and really putting it on the map. Although in appearance it is a traditional late 19th century Inn, it has all of the mod-cons to ensure your every comfort, including free Wi-Fi connection and colour TV.

In the bar area, with its beautiful fireplace and original timber ceiling, you can kickback and enjoy a glass of one of the rotated real ales (one usually coming from a local micro-brewery) and a locally supplied homemade meal. These include delicious dishes such as Traditional Home-made Pie of the Day and Hunters Chicken (chicken breast wrapped in bacon, topped with mozzarella and BBQ sauce). In addition to their menu, which also includes options for children, there is always a specials board to give a great range of choice. On Sundays a traditional roast is added to this menu, where the indecisive among you are able to have up to 3 different meats on one plate! If the weather is fine, there is an outdoor seating area in the stable courtyard, which is the perfect place to relax and enjoy your meal.

The Pooley Bridge Inn offers comfortable accommodation upstairs; all rooms are en-suite with either shower or bath and boast central heating, a colour television and tea and coffee making facilities. Seven of the eleven rooms have a balcony out onto the front of the Inn. Accommodation prices start from a very modest £75, although if real luxury is your aim then there are several elegant four-poster beds available (all of which are also rooms with balconies). The prices for all of the rooms include a hearty breakfast.

For the accommodation it is advisable to book in advance in order to avoid disappointment. Food is served daily between 12 noon to 8.30pm. There is a large off-road car park to avoid any worries about parking, and disabled access to the bar area.
