Wilf's Cafe has been offering the general public mouth-watering snacks and meals since 1997 and is still going strong. Overlooking the River Kent in the village of Staveley, this traditional building, combined with its modern furnishings and eye-catching artwork adorning the walls, keeps the locals and visitors returning again and again.

Wilf, Charlotte, Chef Martin Lovett and their wonderful team, provide a spectacular atmosphere, as well as tantalising food for all of the family. The team produce an excellent range of meals, everything from mighty breakfasts, both vegetarian and non, hot spuds, with a great list of fillings, salads, sandwiches and Wilf's rarebits, as well as snacks of toasted t-cakes with jam, bacon or sausage butty, fresh croissants and garlic bread with cheese. There are also splendid puddings and cakes, including sticky toffee cake, caramel shortbread and a hot pudding, which is advertised on the specials board. To accompany the spectacular feast on offer, Wilf's also offer a wide range of fair-trade tea and coffees and cold drinks.

The aforementioned food can be enjoyed in a large space for 120, which is often full to the brim with laughter and friendly faces. The café is linked to its neighbour the Hawkshead Brewery and customers at the café can take a tour and sample the ales, as well as bring back a glass of their choice to accompany their meal.

If you don't wish to make the effort of eating in, Wilf's also provides a take away service, which is new for 2009. These meals can be supplied frozen or ready to go in the oven and are all cooked in the kitchen, using local products wherever possible. These dishes are in bulk and each main meal or dessert is enough for 8 adult portions. Dishes included in the takeaway service include favourites such as cottage pie, beef lasagne and lamb hot pot, as well as spinach and feta cheese pie, smoked mackerel dauphinoise and vegetable stroganoff crumble.

What's more, Wilf's offer speciality nights throughout the year- Moroccan, Thai, Spanish, with authentic dishes served in a set menu. Prices are £19.95, with a £5 deposit required upon booking.
