The Cock And Bull

7 South Street, Cockermouth, Cumbria CA13 9RT

Tel: 01900 826922

Situated in the heart of Cockermouth in South Street, you'll find the ever so impressive Cock And Bull. During the course of the properties lifetime, the business has had many different names, however the old-fashioned Cock And Bull really suits it.

The pub has been run since November 2008 by couple Helen and Dave; they have many years experience in the trade between them and Dave is a first class Chef, meaning that the food on offer here is simply divine.

Open all day, everyday, there are 3 delicious real ales to enjoy, with Cumberland ale being a regular and several guests rotating. The food is served daily, except for Tuesdays and is available from 12-3pm and 6-8.30pm. With a wonderful array of spectacular dishes to choose from, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The starters are lovely, with splendid soups, bbq meatballs and half pint of shell on prawns for those wishing to have a tantalising light bite. There are also platters to share, light meals of baguettes or rustic rolls, with a large variety of fillings such as bacon with stilton or brie, steak, onion and French mustard, chicken, grapes and mayonnaise and a lovely tuna mozzarella melt. The mains are wonderfully prepared and see Cock And Bull kebabs, served with couscous, crisp salad and homemade jack daniels bbq sauce, homemade chicken kiev's served with homemade chips and a splendid Chef's homemade pies, which sees the specials board change daily.

This is supplemented by a menu dedicated to children, with healthy options and child favourites such as soup, Chef's homemade burger with chips, sausages, mash and gravy and a large selection of sandwiches. The food is so good here and David is extremely well known for his homemade pies - so much so that he has won awards during the national pie week. All of David's food uses produce that has been sourced from within the country and everything is freshly prepared, which is obvious from the spectacular taste of the dishes.

As well as the lovely food and drink on offer there are also poker leagues, pool tournaments, quiz nights and open mic night throughout the week - something that everyone can enjoy.
