The Three Horseshoes stands proudly in the village of Wessington which lies in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales between Matlock and the M1. The property dates back in part to the early 18th century and retains much of that olde worlde feel throughout. Although the pub was once a former coaching inn, posting inn and family home - it now stands a lively hub for its community who rave about the traditional food and drink on offer.Owners Stephen and Andrea have been here for the past 2½ years, in which time they have cultivated a wonderful environment in which to relax or dine. They open all day every day, serving a fine choice of real ales which includes a rotating guest ale and the popular Abbot Ale and Olde Trip. A good selection of other drinks is also available including an array of fine wines and spirits. Drinks can be enjoyed throughout the pub, but can also be enjoyed on the pub's outdoor seating area which is a pleasant sun spot in the summer months.Andrea also serves up a small, but carefully chosen menu, created with fresh local produce. In the summer months, food is available from 12-2:30pm and 5-8pm, and in the winter months from 12-2pm and 5:30-8pm. Guests can chose from a choice of traditional pub meals like homemade meat and potato pie, cod and chips, and a delicious lamb hotpot with vegetables, or try something more exotic like Andrea's specialty meat and potato pie. A range of meat and vegetarian curries are also available which all come served with wild rice, naan bread and mango chutney. Guests with a smaller appetite can also chose from a range of sandwiches and light bites, some of which are also suitable for children. On Sundays a traditional roast is added to the menu, when owing to popularity, it its best to book.On Friday nights, a popular quiz night is run for all the family from 9:30pm, so why not come a long and get involved. In the lifetime of this edition, Stephen and Andrea are also hoping to add some guest accommodation to the pub, so please ring for details. |
