Caunce Head B & B certainly has a long and varied history; originally a mine captain's house, this 300 year old property has been built out of the serpentine stone that Lizard peninsula is famous for. Through the years, it has been owned by a member of the Bloomsbury set, an artist (providing the inspiration for the studio room) and been the set of the Sherlock Holmes short story; 'The Devils Foot'. Nowadays though, it is in the capable hands of Sarah and David who pride themselves on owning the ideal spot for those seeking peace and tranquillity in the beautiful Cornish countryside.Standing high on the cliffs above the pretty village of Mullion, Caunce Head offers a truly unique place to spend a long weekend whilst exploring the lovely area. The three en-suite rooms are all exquisitely decorated and furnished with items as antique as the house, all reasonably priced, and each with a view more magnificent than the previous; the Mounts Bay room offers St Michaels Mount as the focus point. In the morning, after a great night's sleep, chef David prepares scrumptious English breakfasts on the Aga, these are not to be missed. |
