The Cock & Rabbit's location in the pretty village of The Lee, within the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, may seem an unlikely place to find delicious authentic Italian cuisine, but that is exactly what owner Gianfranco Parola is passionate about. There are two aspects to the Cock & Rabbit, which both perfectly compliment the fine Italian Cuisine; social and romantic. The first is a bar and pub area (which will be recognised by many from its appearances on Midsummer Murders!) The relaxed, cosy atmosphere has made it very popular with the locals, and it is a perfect place to unwind with a drink and a bite to eat after a busy day. Quite different is the restaurant and dinning area, which has intimate candle-lit tables perfect for a romantic meal for two. There is also, in the summer months, a delightful outside terrace dining area overlooking the restaurant's pretty garden and to the fields beyond. The Inn specializes, and is very experienced, in hosting large groups and events, such as wedding parties and business functions, and there is a larger dining area which is often used for this purpose. This large dining suite is able to sit sixty people, with the garden terrace able to seat a further forty people. It is easy to see how this spectacular location would perfectly suit your event (particularly a beautiful summer wedding reception); the backdrop of rolling countryside, organised and friendly staff there to ensure the day is as relaxing for you as it is for your guests, and the delicious food, which is both satisfyingly fresh and perfect for social occasions. The menu is a tempting combination of fresh natural ingredients and inspired recipes, adding a contemporary twist to the traditional Italian fayre. Dishes include Tournedo Rossini (Fillet steak on toast with pate and Madeira sauce), Gnocci Verdi al Barolo e Funghi (Delightful little potato dumplings combined with spinach, mushroom and rich red wine) and the deliciously indulgent signature dish Salmone Graziemille (Fresh Scottish salmon in dill, cream and Champagne sauce). To start, or go along side your main dish, is a variety of wonderfully fresh salads, including a refreshing Avocado Tre Colore (Avocado with Mozzarello & Tomato). For desert there is a range of fresh cakes and fruit, including a rich and light Tiramisu which is the perfect way to end your meal, along with a coffee. |
