Mechanical Music Museum & Bygones

Blacksmith Road, Cotton, nr Stowmarket, Suffolk IP14 4QN

Tel: 01449 613876

Mechanical Music Museum & Bygones houses a unique collection of music boxes, polyphons, street pianos, pianolas and organs. Stars of the show include a Limonaire fairground organ dating from around 1850 and a mighty Wurlitzer theatre organ originally installed in the Stilwell Theatre, Brooklyn, in 1926. It was later shipped to England and for many years graced London's Luxury Theatre (later the Leicester Square Theatre), which was built by the great star Jack Buchanan. The Mechanical Museum acquired the Wurlitzer in the early 1980s. The Museum is open on Sunday afternoons from June to September, and for an annual fair organ enthusiasts day on the first Sunday in October.
