Every year, many sick and abandoned seals are rescued and brought to the Hunstanton Sea Life Sanctuary to be nursed back to health. As well as seals, over 30 fascinating marine displays provide a haven for many other fascinating creatures, including otters, seahorses, penguins and sharks. There's fun for all the family with a full programme including talks, feeding displays and demonstrations. The seals brought to the sanctuary are mostly young pups, ill or orphaned, and their plight is usually reported by concerned members of the public. Their rehabilitation begins in the Seal Hospital as soon as they arrive. In the capable hands of the animal care team, the pups gradually recover, and when they are able to feed, they are transferred to the convalescence pool. Here they build up their strength before returning to the wild. At the Seal Hospital you can learn how they care for a seal pup from rescue through to release. |
