Starting life as a Victorian girls' boarding school, Slepe Hall is a Grade II listed building offering high standards of service, comfort and cuisine. The best Victorian features have been preserved, sitting happily with the up-to-date comfort and amenities.The 16 bedrooms, from singles to family rooms, are in individual in style and character: some traditional, some modern, several with very splendid four-poster beds. All have en suite facilities, satellite TV, telephone with modem point, radio-alarm clock, tea/coffee tray and hairdryer. Relaxation is the name of the game throughout this friendly hotel, in the bar, in the lounge or in the pleasant south-facing patio and garden.Slepe Hall provides a good choice for diners, there is a specially designed family restaurant, AJ's offering an extensive cooked to order children's menu with soft ice creams, non alcohol cocktails and milk shakes. Some dishes are time-and-trusted favourites such as steaks, sausages & creamed potatoes, liver & bacon, roasts from the carvery and lasagne (meat or vegetarian). Other dishes are more modern or more exotic in style, like chicken, pork & herb terrine, tagliatelle with mint & basil pesto and Thai fish cakes.As well as very comfortable guest accommodation for both leisure and business guests, Slepe Hall caters admirably for meetings and conferences, with facilities for any number from 2 to 20, and for special occasions. Three rooms are licensed for civil ceremonies, with room for up to 60, and the Brunel Suite, tailor-made for functions, has a private entrance, its own bar, cloakrooms and space for up to 200 guests. The hotel has secure parking for 70 cars.St Ives has plenty to attract the visitor, including the Portland stone statue of Oliver Cromwell, the beautiful parish church and the fascinating Norris Museum. Close by are Wilthorn Meadow, a Site of Natural History Interest, and the Holt Island Nature Reserve. And the Great Ouse provides some wonderful riverside walks. St Ives is very well connected to the main road network, with the A1, A10 and A14 all just a few minutes' drive away. |
