The Butchers Arms is the essence of South Devon; a beautiful stone built former smithy (Circa 1500), close to the market towns of Newton Abbot and Totnes, and the Dartmoor National Park. Large enough to cater for corporate events and private parties (can seat up to 50 people for a buffet), and yet intimate enough for a lovely meal with all the family. Children are welcome, with an enclosed outdoor playing area, and dogs are also welcome on leads. The restaurant and bar areas are beautifully cosy and rustic, with beamed ceilings, wooden floors and traditional furniture. The warmth and aroma of their two open wood burning fireplaces will be just the thing you need in the colder months, and a large south-facing beer garden is perfect in the summer. Their menu, including a sumptuous range of char-grilled quality meats, and an extensive wine menu to compliment your meal, is as popular locally as it is with visitors (for this reason it is always best to book your table in advance). Where possible ingredients, such as eggs laid by their own hens, are locally sourced. Food is served Mon-Fri 12-2:30pm and 6-9pm (12noon-9pm on weekends). There is also a renowned music quiz held weekly on Friday nights, and a traditional meat-draw. |
